Additional Information:
This is a three part class - #1: Telling Your Story Through Zines, #2: Exploring Watercolor and Collage, #3: Reuse and Remake: Giving Ordinary Objects New Life. Zines are mini self-published “magazines” typically produced using a copy machine. We’ll explore format and examples and work on developing your own zines for printing and sharing. In part 2 we’ll explore the medium of watercolor and paper collage and create drawings from watercolor shapes and discover how images evoke feelings and inspiration for our own creations. Pre-cut images, letters, and words will be provided. In part 3, now that our creativity is revved up, we’ll look at how we can turn something into something else. We will focus on transforming, the value of reuse and have time to create new art pieces. Daisye Orr is a self-taught local artist with a background in health education, theatre, and grief processing. She values creative reuse and art as a method for healing, processing and self-expression.
