Additional Information:
Cheryl joined Harmony Hill Retreat Center in late 2019. Harmony Hill’s mission is to Inspire healthy living for all and transform the lives of those affected by cancer.
Prior to Harmony Hill, she was involved in the nonprofit sector for over 28 years. Much of that was in the role of Executive Director for 3 organizations:
- FareStart (job and life skills training in the foodservice industry for homeless adults)
- Washington Community Alliance for Self-Help (microenterprise training and micro-lending for low-income adults)
- Jubilee Women’s Center (housing and services to move homeless women out of poverty)
In every organization the core work has always been about transformation; working through self-limiting beliefs, healing the pain from trauma, finding hope, and living an inspired life. Harmony Hill is an environment designed and centered on that personal transformation.
After receiving her Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership, she taught Nonprofit Social Enterprise and Nonprofit Strategic Planning at Seattle University for 6 years. Prior to her nonprofit work, she spent the first part of her working life in the hospitality industry, including as a small business owner with a custom cake company and catering company. She is also a breast cancer survivor. “Getting cancer is a life-changing experience. Harmony Hill is such a gift to people going through this experience; to process, reframe, and embrace their new reality of life”.
Cheryl’s path in life, as an Executive Director, managing housing, working in the hospitality industry, developing social enterprise businesses, and having personal experience with cancer all contribute to her personal alignment with Harmony Hill. She is grateful for the strong, heart-centered mission that has been built here in the past and joyful about leading this amazing organization into the future.
